resumeconfidential.ca review and discount
Description
A website owned by a resume writer and strategist. The prices here are above the average, and full package is quite expensive. The level of writing here is very good; however, it was too long and I missed some great job ads.
This site is said to be owned by a resume strategist who promises to help with your resume confidentially. It appealed to me that she specialized on career transitions, as I intended to make a career change. I was going to quit my web designer position and try my skills as an IT manager and hoped that the professional writer would persuade the employer that I got what it takes.
Prices and services
The cheapest package consisting of resume and cover letter for an experience professional costs $310. The same package for manager is $390, and the executive will need to pay $480. The fuller packages are available too; they include a LinkedIn profile and personal branding. For my needs a resume and cover letter was more than enough, so I decided to stay on the $390 package.
The process
There was no order or payment buttons on the site, so I filled in Contact form and attached an old resume. The writer answered me in the evening only, clarified the price for writing my resume and I proceed with payment using my MasterCard card. I also was sent a set of questions to answer, as my old resume probably didn’t cover all the information the writer was in need of. As soon as I sent this questionnaire to the writer along with ads of jobs I was going to apply for she informed me that the package would be ready in 5-7 business days.
Quality of writing and support
The major disadvantage is, unlike the big resume companies, here 24/7 support is impossible and you can get in touch with the writer only in business hours. This might be a problem is you still work full-time. I didn’t hear from the writer during the process up until the point he sent me a completed package. By that time, however, three vacancies I was particularly interested in were already closed.
The bottom line
The resume I got was good in both content and design. However, it took the writer too long to prepare it and I missed some great chances. I also had to get a cover letter edited, as it didn’t explain the reasons of my career change. To sum up, the level of writing here is very good; however, it was too long and the cover letter didn’t advertise me well enough.
